2 day intensive training course in Manchester

14th & 15th January 2015

 

Thank you to Professor Andreas Prokop & Sanjai Patel at the Manchester University Fruit Fly Facility for training 10 Bournemouth University students in the fundamentals of Fruit Fly research. This two day course trained the students in how to design crosses, appreciate the fundamentals of biological research and how to dissect and stain brains! Additional thanks go to Dr Matthew Ronshaugen for his lecture on RNAi. The students will now apply their new found knowledge to answer fundamental questions on neurodevelopment.

Bournemouth Post-Graduate student visits Vancouver, BC.

9th - 16th January 2015

 

 

MRes student Rosa Spencer-Tansley spent this week in Dr Jehannine Austin's Psychiatric Genetics Clinic at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. Rosa will be teaming up with one of Jehannine's Masters students to investigate in parallel the need of Psychaitric Genetic Counselling within the UK and Canada.

 

Rosa's essential trip strenthens ties between UBC and BU and was funded by Bournemouth's Global Horizons Fund

Psychiatric Genetic Counselling: International Strategies and Challenges - Interactive web documentary.

11th-29th July 2016

Media and Journalism students Chelsea Nwasike and Grace Brewer spent three weeks interviewing International Genetic Counsellors and creating an interactive web documentary to illustrate the project's global outreach.

The documentary will be published here on 29th July 2016.
